On 24 September 2025, the panel discussion “Sports Diplomacy” took place, organised by Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. The event was held within the framework of the IX Kharkiv International Legal Forum.
The core focus of the discussion was the role of sport as a tool of diplomacy, influence, and resistance to Russian aggression. Participants also examined mechanisms for countering attempts to reintegrate athletes from the aggressor state into international competitions.
Among the speakers were representatives of the NOC of Ukraine, sports federations, academics, and practitioners in the field of sports law.
🎤 Ganna Gnizdovska, Managing Partner of Juris Ferrum, delivered a presentation on the topic:
“National Anti-Doping Organizations as State Ambassadors in International Sport.”
In her presentation, Ganna addressed several key issues:
- how NADOs shape a state's image on the international stage;
- why clean sport is one of the most powerful forms of diplomacy;
- how effective anti-doping systems reinforce Ukraine’s standing within sports institutions ;
- what role appellate bodies play in safeguarding athletes’ rights and the sporting reputation of the state.
She shared practical case studies, demonstrating that modern anti-doping is not only about medicine or law — it is about national interests, international credibility, and the ongoing fight for fair play in sport.
We believe that the work of national anti-doping organizations has become an important instrument of international dialogue — a way to assert one’s position, build a reputation, and communicate Ukraine’s stance globally.
